Jane Simpkin
United Flight 175
Wayland, Mass.

Jane Simpkin and her two sisters, Laura and Helen, grew up all over the world, including Iran. She had guts, said her family, who believe Simpkin made it tough for the terrorists who hijacked the plane she took from Boston to Los Angeles Sept. 11. She was supposed to take another flight that morning, but instead switched back to doomed Flight 175. Her sister, Helen Simpkin-Whalen, lives in Cottekill, and volunteered to work at Ground Zero saying that's where her sister is. She was 36.
