Douglas Miller dedicated his life to saving people and fighting fires. He not only fought fires in Staten Island, he volunteered as the fire chief of the Mill Rift Fire Department in Pennsylvania, and was a member of the International Association of Firefighters. Miller also worked as an electrician in the city and in Pennsylvania. The Brooklyn-born firefighter is survived by his wife, Laurie Addio Miller, and their three daughters, Elizabeth, Katie and Rachel. He was 34.
