Chris Kirby
Carpenter, World Trade Center
Scotchtown

A twist of fate led Chris Kirby to the 107th floor of the World Trade Center Sept. 11. The carpenter anticipated working on the 23rd floor that day, but instead, the union changed assignments that morning. Kirby's firefighter father Mickey didn't know his son was missing as he waited to leave the Bronx firehouse for Ground Zero. A testament to his life rested in the help offered by countless friends and neighbors in the days that followed. He was 21.
