U.S. special forces have conducted scouting missions in Afghanistan.
Pakistani delegation fails to persuade Taliban to surrender
bin Laden. U.N. Security Council unanimously approves resolution
demanding nations take sweeping action against terrorism. Attorney
General John Ashcroft says authorities have arrested or detained
more than 480 people. Erin O'Connor, assistant to NBC News anchor
Tom Brokaw, notices a lesion. The 7-month-old son of an ABC
producer in Manhattan spends time at the network offices, develops
rash and is hospitalized soon after the visit. He is later diagnosed
with cutaneous anthrax.
